International  Gay  &  Lesbian  Sport  Organisations

GLISA

GLISA is an international gay and lesbian sport association. Modelled after a multi-sport governing body, it's members are international sporting federations, continental associations representing sport teams and clubs from the major regions of the world, and host cities of GLISA's World Outgames. The focus of GLISA is developing gay and lesbian sport worldwide. GLISA does this through sanctioning world and continental games, creating a global calendar of GLBT sport events, fostering the creation of new GLBT federations, clubs and teams, supporting existing GLBT sport organizations, working in partnership with other sport organization to pursue this mandate, and providing the financial framework to support GLISA's global efforts.

EGLSF

The European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation was founded in 1989. Its aims are:

·                            fight against discrimination in sport on grounds of sexual preference

xml:namespace prefix = o />

·                            stimulate integration in sport and emancipation of lesbians and gays

·                            enable and support the coming out of gay and lesbian sports men and women

·                            exchange information and enable co-ordination between European sport groups and tournaments

·                            support the founding of new gay/lesbian/bisexual/straight/transgendered and mixed sport groups

We are a federation which is open to gay, lesbian, straight and mixed sport groups and organizations. At the moment this network has more than 10,000 members within over 100 organizations and sport groups. In the EGLSF all member organizations are autonomous: the Federation is operating as a servicing and co-ordinating body.
