Why  become  a  member  of  PinkHockey

PinkHockey is launched to give every Gay, Lesbian or bisexual field hockey player a chance to be him or her self on and around the field hockey pit in every sense of the word. PinkHockey maintains contacts with other (gay, lesbian or regular) field hockey, sports organisations and federations and also continues to lure more PinkHockey players.

The International Gay & Lesbian Field Hockey Federation (I.G.L.F.H.F.), or simply PinkHockey, was launched following the Gay Games in Sydney 2002. We are currently trying to gather interested players from all countries to set up more gay/lesbian field hockey teams. The (I.G.L.F.H.F.) exists from a board of 8 members and currently around 250 hockey players.  PinkHockey is an organisation for Gay and Lesbian field hockey players all over the world. There are now players from England, Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Scotland, USA, Belgium and Argentina. Besides the contacts we have with hockey associations around the world, we organise practices, get togethers, nights out and tournaments all over the world.

Why become a member of PinkHockey; Very simple, because there is more to life than your disposition and besides, it is sometimes nice to play hockey with like minded people. What's more is that it’s always nice to have some more hockey friends especially when they live in different parts of the world. PinkHockey members can sometimes benefit of discounts for tournaments and join us for free at practises, get togethers and nights out.

Everyone is welcome to join PinkHockey. Whether you are gay, lesbian, bisexual, straight, this makes no difference. The colour of your skin, hair or eyes as well as your religion, beliefs, race, age, gender or the way you want to dress or choose to live is not an issue. As long you are a field hockey player or a fan of the game you are more than welcome to join.  Further, it is not important if the participants are good hockey players or not, enjoyment is the most important requirement. We are looking at competing in certain tournaments each year with our main aim being to compete at the Euro Games, Gay Games and Outgames. At the Gay Games in Sydney 2002 there were 7 ladies and 3 men's teams. We think it is possible to increase this number. Our first goal is to set up men's and women's teams in Europe and America. There are now complete men's teams in Australia, Argentina and The Netherlands. There are complete women's teams in Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Germany.

The contribution cost for becoming a member is 10.00 (that’s about 15 US or 20 AUS dollars) a year and this money will be used:

- To keep the PinkHockey internet website running.
- To make brochures, posters and flyers promote PinkHockey as much as possible.
- To pay contrubution fees for the EGLSF and the GLISA.
- To maintain contact with other (sport)groups, (hockey)federations and each other.
- To make sure that there will be hockey during the Euro-Games, Gay-Games and Out-Games.
- To organise get togethers and tournaments for all PinkHockey members.

We are currently trying to build up the number of players and to set up more teams all over the world. We are also talking with other (gay & lesbian) sport groups and hockey federation all over the world about different issues. We are currently organising, or are involved with the organisation of field hockey tournaments. Our next tournament will be the PinkHockey championships during the 2005 EuroGames in Utrecht (the Netherlands).

As you see a PinkHockey membership is very cheap and for good reason. Is not for us but for all PinkHockey members. Send us an e-mail for more info about a membership or just ask for the PinkHockey membership form.
